A belief in community

The Human Chain is an uplifting community event that allows people to stand up for what they care for together, closely, and calmly.

A fear of inaction

Fact. Our governing bodies are not doing enough to protect our planet and combat the climate crisis.

A hope for the future

With every hand that joins, our line of argument becomes stronger and the chance for creating a real change for the future only increases.

FAQ

  • What does your charity do to protect the oceans?

At the Human Chain we amplify a community of voices concerned about the current state of our coastlines. We are here to send one united statement that ocean disrespect in all its forms will not be tolerated. We stand together each year in peaceful protest, joining hands with likeminded ocean advocates in a mission to protect our ocean welfare and inspire other to do the same. After every Human Chain we scour the beach for marine debris and plastic pollution that is all too often found on British shores.

  • What is a Human Chain?

A peaceful protest where environmental advocates join hands to create a chain as a symbol of dedication to their cause. We join hands for our oceans and coastal environments that are consistently polluted by organisations and governments that prioritise profit over planet.

  • What do we do with the media footage?

The media footage is key to the impact of our events. Using our videography and photos we approach local MP’s seeking greater environmental protection, we are featured in local press such as Cornwall Live which amplifies our message for the ocean and we implore supermarkets, fishing companies and water-companies to better regulate their impact on marine ecosystems.

  • How can I get involved or volunteer?

There is real power in community action.

    More hands, more impact!

Every volunteer is welcome, joining in is as simple as joining hands.

If you want to host your own Human Chain event please get in touch with gem@freethinkers.co.uk.

  • How can I contact your charity for further inquiries?

For any further enquiries please contact Gem West at gem@freethinkers.co.uk

  • Who are your supporters?

We are proud to be supported by some of the leading environmental groups in the UK. We have worked closely with Sea Shepherd UK, Clean Cornwall, Cornwall Climate Care and Clean Something for Nothing.
